The transition toward sustainable consumption in developing markets presents a fundamental tension: consumers express willingness to pay green premiums, yet small and medium enterprises (SMEs) face significant economic constraints in implementing sustainable practices. This study investigates how digital transparency mechanisms, ESG disclosures, and sustainable supply chain effectiveness influence consumer trust and SME performance in developing economies. Using a mixed-methods approach combining survey data from 847 consumers and 312 SMEs across Nigeria, Indonesia, and India, alongside panel regression analysis of firm-level data from 2019-2025, this research develops and validates an integrated framework linking sustainability communication to measurable performance outcomes. Structural equation modeling reveals that digital transparency tools (β = 0.523, p < 0.001) and verifiable ESG disclosures (β = 0.487, p < 0.001) significantly mediate the relationship between sustainability practices and consumer trust, with the proposed framework demonstrating 89.4% predictive accuracy for SME performance outcomes. Findings indicate that SMEs implementing integrated digital transparency and ESG disclosure strategies experience 34.7% higher consumer trust scores and 28.3% improved financial performance compared to those relying solely on traditional sustainability claims. The study extends stakeholder and signaling theories by introducing the "Transparency-Performance Nexus" construct, offering practical implications for SME managers, policymakers, and sustainability standard-setters in emerging economies. The research concludes that the green premium-economic reality gap can be bridged through strategic digital transparency implementation rather than cost-prohibitive sustainability investments alone.
